Recomposition
A poem to accompany Recomposition - an exhibition of works by Leith Maguire, Nicholas Thompson Gallery, Melbourne 2019
Buried,
and yet—
the busyness of bulbs,
roots, spores, under-earth chat
starts and ends here
you know
—earthen
disassembly
patience, love
Kite string
umbilical
And,
oh—
Bones
prisonbreak
Dandelion seed cells
puff, tumble. Breeze
spread,
caught
lashes, fur, hairpin bloom
Taste, touch wind
sing. Salt-lick
beast
ink-feathered
screech
flying
flying
up, through—
Buried,
and yet—
rewilded remembrance:
the electric earth
too is home
before
will be
once more
only—
with next pale breath
—to forget.
