Writing Fiction: Advanced Craft (Online course)

Class information

Writing Fiction: Advanced Craft is a 6-session online course for writers with a novel-in-progress. In these live, facilitator-led sessions, we’ll tackle some of the common problems that arise while writing and rewriting manuscripts, including:

  • Creating and sustaining a robust and engaging story

  • Ensuring your characters drive the plot

  • Streamlining point of view

  • Managing subplots

  • Ordering plot points and scenes for the greatest effect

  • Incorporating (and weathering) reader feedback.

Each session will include writing prompts to limber up your imagination and help you work through creative blocks, as well as a workshop on a specific area of craft. Students will have the opportunity to discuss their works in progress and share small excerpts with the class.
